Need more convincing?

If you haven’t heard, Elevation is a trick-taking game where 1-6 players compete for the highest elevation gain in famous mountain ranges around the world.

But this isn’t your grandma’s trick-taking game! Rules change depending on which approach cards you draw each day.

How each round starts

Start each day by shuffling and dealing out mountain cards. Each card has the name of a real mountain, along with an interesting fact about that summit.

Then craft your hand by passing 2 face-down mountain cards from your hand to the player next to you.

How to get points

Elevation follows basic trick-taking rules. You need to follow the lead suit if you can; otherwise, you can play any card. The highest card in the lead suit wins the trick.

Elevation card overview

Wait, what’s that noise? It’s an avalanche! There are also 5 avalanche cards that can be played on any trick. The highest avalanche card wins, no matter what.

But winning the top card does nothing without a low card to back it up. Your points are the difference between your highest and lowest card of every suit.

What happens then

Stay on your toes, after each trick everyone draws another card. You could be out of a suit one moment and have its top card the next.

Use the included scorepad to count elevation points and the bonuses or penalties from the approach cards to see if you are the champion mountaineer!
